Our Normally Scheduled Program

Yes it's true. The summer is coming to an end. This also means that our HC will again be meeting on a regular basis with real things to talk about and discuss. (well, we will at least meet regularly) It is my intention to kick off the "back to our normal schedule HC" with a unique event.

Each September, thousands of migrating Vaux's Swifts use Chapman Elementary School's chimney as their nightly roost before continuing their journey to southern Central America and parts of Venezuela. For three weeks in September Audubon Society of Portland hosts Swift Watch, an amazing opportunity to see the swifts in their nightly aerial performance and learn more about special creatures.

This is an amazing event that happens each year in NW Portland. On September 12th the NOPO, Arbor Lodge, Humbolt, or whatever our official name is HC is planning to have a pinic at Chapman school to watch 10's of thousands of little birds fly into a chimeny at dusk. It's really cool. This event will kick off our official return to Wednesday evenings, now hosted at the Miranda's. (6:30Pm to 8:30PM Wednesday's)

Plan to bring a blanket, chairs, picinc and anyone that might be interested. Unitl 9/12 we will continue to meet informally as the group or individuals would like. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to give me a call at (503) 544-3841.

Juany
