WE HAVE A NEW BLOG!!!

Alright guys. The North Portland Home Community has a new blog. And it's on it's own URL.

www.nopohc.com.

. That's it. A new blog. Such a short URL. nopohc.com

If you would like an account, give us a shout and we'll set you up with one. I'll also be giving a short tutorial in the next week or so at HC. It's going to be much easier to use and hopefully everyone will find it a happy place. There will also be some new features coming up in the near future. Like photos.

Yay!

fyi. we will probably be phasing this blog out, so if you see this post, go to the new one to see what's going on. that's where the action is going to be from now on.

Merry Xmas - NOPO Style

As the holiday season approaches we are once again inspired to get together as a group and celebrate Christmas. In keeping with a (young) tradition, the NOPO Holiday Progressive party lives on. Looking at the calendar for December we are proposing to have the progressive party on 12/1 or 12/8 depending on schedules. Please comment on which date you prefer. This year the proposal is to limit the number of houses to three or potentially rent a facilty in Irvington. (details to follow from Jason) Please check your calendars and let us know if the above dates will work. Once we settle on a date we can start planning the event.

Quest for the Great Pumpkin

On Wednesday October 24th the Home Community will be foregoing their regularly scheduled programming for a holiday special evening of Pumpkin carving. Complete with yummy holiday treats such as carmeled apples, popcorn and a little candy corn and maybe even that Charlie Brown Holiday classic. What could be missing one might ask . . . Except wait. . . What about the pumpkins???
That's right folks we must set out on the quest for that ever important, perfect great pumpkin that will willingly sacrifice itself for our creative endeavor. And Juany and I thought it might be fun to embark on this quest together. How would ya'all like to join us at the pumpking patch this coming Saturday October 20th? Weather permitting we thought it would be great fun to head to Sauvie's Island and Kruegar's farm for hay rides, the corn maze and pumpkin hunting together as a community. If you are interested suggest a time that will work best for you and we can all meet up for a hoot'in nanny good time!

Does anyone have a teapot?

I was wondering if anyone has a teapot that they don't use. If you would like to donate it to Wednesday night HC that would be awsome. If there is no lonely teapot out there then I will purchase one. Let me know.
Thanks!

The Plan for October

In an effort to better prepare the group for discussions for the coming month, we've decided to give you all the plan ahead of time. For the month of October we are going to be reading and then disussing an article by Henry Nouwen called moving from solitude to community to ministry. We will also be coordinating themes from the sermons as appropriate. Margaret will be forwarding the article on shortly. The other item we have decided to change this week is the potluck. Rather than having it at the beginning of the month, we are going to wait until the 31st to have a potluck/party/trick or treating in conjuction with Halloween. So the schedule will look like this:

10/3 Discussion on Solitude
10/10 Discussion on Community
10/17 Discussion on Ministry
10/24 Pumpkin carving contest/event (Bring a pumpkin to carve)
10/31 Halloween party (Bring some food to share)

When you recieve the Henry Nouwen article you can read it all or only the section that we will be covering for the evening. It's up to you. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

inspiration

hey all.
So, I sometimes go to this site to check out cool modern furniture site to get my "cool shit" fix.
Anyway, I clicked on this link, and even though the write-up is super sappy, I was pretty blown away by this demonstration of "community". Check it out.
