potluck, may 2
hope everyone's having a killer weekend...!
we are lazing around and enjoying not having to do much of anything.
so this wednesday is a potluck night and i was wondering what everyone was up for. us P's will plan to do the main course... something with chicken probably. what sounds good to everyone else?

The J.O.B
Just wanted to let everyone know. . . . JUANY GOT THE JOB!
He got the call last night and we are both so excited. As Juany said "F Yeah"!
This is a huge blessing and it is blowing us away how God's hand has been guiding us these last few months.
When we prayed for a clear direction and guidance, I don't think either of us ever realized we would see such a direct answer.

HC evening of prayer
Remember to bring the prayer issues/requests that have been on your heart this week to HC. I am looking forward to putting into action some of the things we've been discussing this month.

snack rotation
i want to set up a snack rotation. it's been my job to delegate this out over the weeks and i'm (admittedly) terrible at it so the rotation is my solution.
actually, it doesn't even have to be a rotation. if we can just get it set up for the next month, that would be great! please choose a date and leave a comment letting me know which date you've chosen.
april 25
may 9
may 16
may 23
(us P's will take may 30th- that way it's easier to switch down the road if someone needs to)
if your week rolls around and you can't seem to cover the snacks that week, give me a holler. i'll improvise or switch weeks with you.
thanks, guys!

This made me laugh.
And I thought of Ivy giving someone the run-down, which made me put it here.
Forgive me.

aunt paula

tonight, she and tom's uncle bob are going to make the decision if they should pursue chemo and radiation or not. since her life is going to be short anyways, they're weighing quality of life vs. quantity. i can't imagine trying to decide that with my spouse.
the good news is that aunt paula and her family are saved so she is handling this whole thing with huge amounts of grace. she feels very confident that this is what God has for her and she's said repeatedly that she's okay with this. the rest of us could use some of her confidence.
please keep her and her family in prayer. she has 3 children and 4 grandchildren. 3 of the 4 grandbabies are under the age of 3 (one is just a newborn) and she's incredibly devoted to them and the rest of her family. she is definitely what you would call "the glue" of her clan.
thanks, guys.

camping update

Hey everyone, just an update on the camping trip. were locked into a great campground with spots on the river. Were close enough to town that if we need a run for food or beverages its not much of a trip, but still out off the main road a bit. So the skinny: $153 total, 5 couples = $30.60 each. We'll distribute the balance of what people paid upfront, then if anyone wants to pool the beverage fund feel free. Were getting excited and nothing says summer fun like a little Rogue River madness. We'll figure out possible car pooling and what-not a couple weeks leading up to the trip.

memorial day trip update
I thought I would post the camping info here since most people expressed they prefer the blog for information. -courtney

hey all...
i wanted to touch base about our upcoming camping trip. it's kind of fun to be able to say that it's happening next month already!
as far as food is concerned, everyone will be responsible for their own breakfast and lunches. this seemed easiest since people will be getting up a different times in the morning and it's very possible that we'll be having too much fun to want to break and cook lunch when the day's only just started to warm up.
this leaves two dinners (saturday and sunday- since people are arriving at different times on friday, it made sense for people to just eat on their way south). we're going to split into two groups and each group will plan their dinner. here's the groups:
group 1:
bryan and kari
nate and robbie
juany and emme
group 2:
jason and holly
tom and rae
chris and court
if people are interested in rafting the river, it looks like it would run from about $25 a day, per person and up from there. it would be good to have a count of how many rafts we'll need by early may so that i can call and reserve them since it will be a holiday weekend.
nicole, ethan and parker... it's not too late if you want to get in on this! email me and i can shoot you the details.

Confusion
kids,
Jason pointed out to me that my post was a little confusing. I was posting right after Kari, who had said we could all bring some meat and a side. So I was thinking meat for J and I, and salad for all. My bad. However, in addition to the 2 steaks I defrosted, I have 2 seasoned chicken breasts defrosted, and enough sirloin burgers for everyone. So, I'd like to put the birthday Man's name on one steak, then everyone else can duke it out for what they want from the "meat selection". Does that work?
Sorry everyone-I promise the salad really is good.

Potluck Wednesday
Hey all...
Wednesday is Potluck. Does anyone have any burning desires for what we have? It's also Chris' bday so I was probably going to do some sort of desert. We could do pasta night...burrito night? Thoughts?
