2/28 Meeting

Hey guys,

Just a couple of things to remember for this Wednesday's meeting:

We are going to be discussing the topic of tithing and budgets. Please be prepared to discuss the following verses:

Lev. 19: 9-10
Numbers: 18-24
Deut: 14: 22-23
Deut: 15:11
Deut: 15: 22-23
Proverbs: 3:9
Malachi 3:8-10a
Matthew 23:23
Luke 21 1-4
Acts 4: 32-35
1 John 3: 17-19

Following our discussion on tithing we are going to break up into smaller groups and discuss our home budgets. The idea is to share the struggles as well as the successes. Kind of like a best (or worse) practices idea session.

Please bring your bibles Wednesday night. You are going to need them. We are going to start at 6:45pm sharp. It is important for the flow of the evening that you arrive on time. If you can't make it on time, no worries we still love you. Come on in grab a seat and we will catch you up. Just remember to be respectful of the people already engaged in prayer and conversation.

Let me know if you have any questions, or if you have some additional verses that you would like to add.

See you wednesday!

Juany

Brekkie

So Bryan and I are going to the Cup and Saucer on Killingsworth at 9:30 - if anyone can come- seems like maybe most will just be at the 11:00 service. In any case- see you all at church :)

Sunday

i'm in a minor tangle, gang.
So, Glaspeys got asked to help with the kids this Sunday during the first part of the 11 service. Which is fine, I said yes. But then yesterday I was reminded that we are supposed to be helping at the info table at the beginning of the 11 service. But the notice was too short to back out of the kid thing.

So, i'm wondering if any of you would be willing to stand at the info table to help us out.
In case anyone can, here's what' required:

Get there at 10:45, replace the other person who is the 9 am service info table person. If people want to buy books they are all $10 and you just put the money in an envelope that's there. CDs of the sermons are $1. Once people are all in the service you just put the money envelope under the table cloth and head in. I'll cover it at the end of service, so don't worry about that.

I really appreciate it if anyone could help.

Thanks

Meet for Breakfast before going to the 11?

So we talked about meeting for breakfast somewhere before going to the 11-
to see Ivy Lou get dedicated and then to help with tear-down. Does anyone have any ideas where a large group could have breakfast together? Most of the places I know of are pretty small.

Boatnik #2

Here are some pics of the boatnik boats, aside from the hydro's and full race boats that will be there. Here are the little rippers that race down through Hells Gate.

PS. I'm not going to post random pics on here. I just wanted to show some more pics of what the weekends festivities are like.

IVY LOU...

...is getting dedicated at church this sunday at the 11am service. not a huge deal, but thought i'd let you guys know since this also means that we're committing to our community (as well as the church body) to raise her in Christ and be the best parents we can. obviously, you guys are our community and we want to stand accountable to you as we continue on this adventure called parenthood.

***edited to say that i just got the following info from karen. if any of you are going to be at the 11am service, i'd love to include you in this part of the dedication:

"When you are done sharing you can walk down OFF the stage down in front of the COMMUNION TABLES (spread out so people can see you). We will then ask all of your family or friends that have come into town for the dedication to come and stand with you and pray over you. Please feel free to have anyone from your home community or friends of yours that you’d like to come up during this time do so."

ALL POINTS BULLETIN

Munley and the Lee Lewis Harlots are playing tomorrow, and I believe Tom said they were playing at Clark Lewis (the bar in the East Side), HOWEVER... their myspace page says it is actually at Lewis and Clark college, and it's at 7:30... Which is pretty early for a rock show. Also, according to their page, it's FREE!!! Which means more $$$ for drinks. I'll see you all with my flask in hand.

Show detail page:

So, I'm saying those that want to go should all meet up for a drink/happy hour beforehand, then head over. Or, just meet there.

But anyway, I'm gonna be there. Rocking.

If ya'll wanna meet, let's plan on using our cellphones, in case somebody forgets to check this here blog.

BUNCH-O BIZNISS

i was talking to court and holly yesterday about tom's aunt, but i thought i would put the prayer request on here too...

his aunt paula (who's 60ish) was in chico visiting her daughter who just had her first baby. on tuesday she suffered a series of small strokes and ended up in the hospital. she's doing much better as time goes on, but they're still not sure what long term effects will surface.

also, his cousin, alicia (paula's daughter who just had the baby), is not coping well. she had her baby via c-section so she's still not supposed to be lifting, driving, or doing too much. she's also suffering from an incredible amount of self-imposed guilt about the situation (obviously, none of this is her fault nor could she have done anything to prevent what happened). from what i understand, she's doing okay, but she's not dealing with this very well at all. she and her mom are very, very close.

aunt paula is the caretaker for tom's grandma (erm). grandma erm has been staying with tom's mom this week, but we aren't sure what the long term living situation is going to be considering tom's mom has to work and can't care for grandma on a daily basis.

anyways, i realize that's a lot to sort out, but if you could just pray for the family, it would be much appreciated.

okay... onto memorial day weekend. it sounds like trying to retreat in march is too much for everyone and not good for schedules or budgets. let's plan to nix that trip and just do the memorial day campout instead. if everyone can plan to bring their $40 on wednesday, that would be great. that way i can call on thursday and pay for our spaces to reserve them. i'm going to hold them for friday through monday. the peils are going to try to head down on friday morning and then you guys show up whenever you can. let us know if you want to caravan with us. the drive is long- about 4 to 4.5 hours so you might want to try to take the day off or take a half day if you can. if not, just get there when you can. we'll pack up on monday morning and leave after the boatnik races which will get us home on monday evening.

once i've set up the reservations, we can talk about how we want to handle food and meals and also nail down what other activities we want to do while we're there.

i think that's it. let me know if you have any questions.
