In an effort to better prepare the group for discussions for the coming month, we've decided to give you all the plan ahead of time. For the month of October we are going to be reading and then disussing an article by Henry Nouwen called moving from solitude to community to ministry. We will also be coordinating themes from the sermons as appropriate. Margaret will be forwarding the article on shortly. The other item we have decided to change this week is the potluck. Rather than having it at the beginning of the month, we are going to wait until the 31st to have a potluck/party/trick or treating in conjuction with Halloween. So the schedule will look like this:

10/3 Discussion on Solitude
10/10 Discussion on Community
10/17 Discussion on Ministry
10/24 Pumpkin carving contest/event (Bring a pumpkin to carve)
10/31 Halloween party (Bring some food to share)

When you recieve the Henry Nouwen article you can read it all or only the section that we will be covering for the evening. It's up to you. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Hi everyone. I just wanted to let everyone know that we are doing a scavenger hunt this Wednesday. Please wear your walking shoes. I hope everyone can make it because it's going to be fun. Just wanted to put up on the Blog the up and coming marriage seminar being hosted by Imago. The seminar is on Discovering greater passion and intimacy in your marriage. It is taught by Dr. Clifford and Joyce Penner. It will take place Friday evening October 19th and Saturday October 20th. It is in town at hte Red Lion on Jantzen Beach. The cost for Image couples is $80 but there are scholarships available. To find out more information visit the Imago Dei website. It sounds like it is going to be a very good event.

This morning Margaret and I attended a funeral for Lola Jolie Hodgson. Lola was the 2 month old daughter of a good college friend of mine. Lola died in her sleep (SIDS) last week. Jennifer (Mom) and Anthony (Dad) are having a really tough time right now. Please pray for God to heal the hurt and pain that was caused by Lola's death. Thanks. Juany

Sunset tomorrow is schedule for 7:26 PM. Let's plan to meet down at Chapman middle school around 7:00pm. If you are too much later you might miss the show. (I sure hope these birds show up...)
